Lom was rescued in 2006 after he was confiscated by the Forestry Department in Bokeo Province, Laos. Forestry Officers chased the bear hunters through the forest as they tried to evade capture. Armed officers opened fire in order to prevent their escape and the bears were successfully rescued.
Lom arrived with two other confiscated bears at 2 -3 months of age and needed round the clock care. Now, despite his dramatic beginnings, Lom remains quite a laid back bear who is bossed around by some of the females, which he seems to enjoy!
By sponsoring Lom (AUD$400/year), you will be contributing to providing for his daily needs - a healthy diet, health checks, enrichment activities and a forest enclosure. We will post you a letter containing a special sponsorship certificate with a photograph and information about Lom and the satisfaction that you have helped to make a difference.
