Help us name this sweet binturong

Who smells like popcorn, loves to climb, and is winning hearts at our Luang Prabang Wildlife Sanctuary?

Our resident rescued binturong!

But this adorable little lady still needs the perfect name, so we need your help.

Our dedicated Lao keepers have suggested three beautiful Lao names for her, each with a special meaning.

Now we’d love your help to choose the one that suits her best.

  1. Kulap - Rose

  2. Khong Kwan - A gift

  3. Khao Hom - the beautiful smell of rice when it’s near ready for harvest.

This sweet girl was rescued from the illegal wildlife trade, where she was kept as a pet. Now living safely at Luang Prabang Wildlife Sanctuary, she can climb, explore, and nap in the treetops (a favourite pastime of hers!)

Many people know us for rescuing bears, but our Luang Prabang Wildlife Sanctuary is a multi-species facility. Alongside more than 100 rescued sun bears and moon bears, we also care for macaques, gibbons, red pandas, birds, a golden cat, tortoises and other rescued wildlife, many of whom are discovered on missions to rescue bears.

Since opening in 2017 we’ve rescued almost 200 other animals aside from bears, from 39 other species.

Whenever possible, our team also rescues, rehabilitates and releases animals like pangolins, tortoises and leopard cats back to the wild. And in both Laos and Cambodia, our wildlife hospitals treat a wide range of species in need of urgent care, year-round.

Our sanctuaries are on the frontline of the fight against the illegal wildlife trade, working with local communities and government partners where help is needed most.

Because every rescued animal deserves safety and care.
