How much does a bear eat in a week?

Many of the rescued bears in our care were severely malnourished when we first met them.

After years, sometimes decades, in captivity where they were deprived of their natural diet, the health impacts run deep.

Weakened immune systems, stunted growth, damaged organs and fragile teeth and bones are just some of the challenges they face.

Now, through nutritious, varied food every day, we are slowly helping their bodies heal from those years of deprivation.

Safe in our sanctuaries, each bear eats around 42kg of fresh fruit, vegetables, leafy greens and varied proteins every single week.

With 309 bears currently in our care across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, that adds up to almost 13 tonnes of food weekly!

Head Keeper of Luang Prabang Wildlife Sanctuary in Laos is here to take us through our weekly menu, from green beans to sunflower seeds.

Even a small donation can help fill a bear’s belly.

$35 will feed a rescued bear for the whole week, and $150 will cover an entire month!

Due to the lack of protected forest, and the trauma many of these bears have experienced, most of them will be with us for life, which could be up to 40 years. That's a lot of mouths to feed.

Donate today and help us give bears the care they need to heal.
