No bear should live like this

These young bears were illegally stolen from the wild as cubs, forced to spend their young lives imprisoned in tiny metal cages built for bile extraction. Their mothers were likely killed in order for the cubs to be taken.

Many of them suffer from malnutrition, psychological trauma, and painful injuries caused by years of confinement. They were kept in a hot, concrete shed, and only given water once a day.

They deserve a safe forested home, but the cost of caring for these bears at the sanctuary will continue for the rest of their life, which could be 30+ years.

Please help us give them the care they need after everything they have endured.

  • Build new bear houses

with large forest spaces for bears to roam, play, forage, climb, swim and more.

  • Provide veterinary care

to bears who have suffered immense physical and psychological trauma

  • Expand the sanctuary

with new land to permanently house this influx of additional bears

  • Plant new forest

for bears to explore and live as naturally as possible while in sanctuary care.

  • Increase staffing

to give these bears the specialist care they need every day.

  • Provide nutritious food, and medicine

for bears to recover and thrive.

THE LARGEST BEAR SANCTUARY NETWORK IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

We care for more than 300 rescued bears across Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Because of their past trauma, most will need specialised care and a safe, stable home for up to 30 years.

We’re rescuing more bears every year — and it’s only through your support that we can continue to say yes when a bear is in need.

We’re also working to stop bears being taken from the wild. The future of bears depends not only on those we rescue, but on protecting the forests where they belong.

Together, we can create a future where bears are free from exploitation.

Where your donation goes

We’re fighting for a world where bears are no longer exploited for profit, traded as commodities, or taken from the wild.

Every donation supports the rescue and care of these 27 bears, providing them a safe sanctuary home, nutritious food, veterinary care, and more.
