Visit our Cambodia Bear Sanctuary situated within Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre and discover what it takes to care for rescued sun bears and moon bears.

You’ll tour the sanctuary with our team, learn about the bears and their rescue stories, prepare enrichment and special treats, and watch as the bears search for the food you have helped hide in their forest enclosures.

8:00 am — Depart Phnom Penh

Meet at Eric Kayser Café & Bakery, on the corner of Street 63 and Street 322 in BKK, Phnom Penh.

Return transport to the sanctuary is included.

9:00 am — Arrive at Phnom Tamao

Begin the day with an educational presentation about Free the Bears and our work rescuing, caring for and protecting bears across Asia.

10:00 am — Tour the bear sanctuary

Join our Education Team for a guided tour of the Cambodia Bear Sanctuary and learn more about the rescued sun bears and moon bears in our care.

11:00 am — Prepare enrichment

Help the Bear Care Team create enrichment toys and prepare special treats designed to encourage natural behaviours such as foraging, problem-solving and exploration.

12:00 pm — Khmer lunch

Enjoy a traditional Khmer lunch, followed by time to rest and relax. Vegetarian meals can be provided.

1:00 pm — Explore Phnom Tamao

Tour more of Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, which is home to more than 1,000 rescued animals from over 200 species.

3:00 pm — Scatter feed

Help the team hide food throughout the bears’ forest enclosures, then watch as the bears come outside to search for and enjoy the food you have prepared.

4:00 pm — Return to Phnom Penh

Leave the wildlife rescue centre and arrive back in Phnom Penh at approximately 5:30 pm.

Know before you go:

  • Tours require a minimum donation of USD$90 per person (kids 0-3 - FREE, kids 4-15 - 50% of adult). This includes return transportation from Phnom Penh to the sanctuary, park entrance fees, lunch, guided tour and a t-shirt.

  • All donations support the care of rescued bears in Cambodia.

  • Direct contact with the bears and other wildlife is not possible under any circumstances. These are rescued wild animals and we want them to enjoy as natural a life as possible.
