Adopt VR48

Meet Vietnam Rescue 48, a female moon bear who spent many years confined in a small cage, with little opportunity to move, climb, or explore. When she was rescued, she was calm but cautious – a bear shaped by long-term confinement, who had learned to live quietly in a limited space. Her rescue gave her the chance to begin again, in an environment with safety and care.

Today, Vietnam Rescue 48 is inseparable from her close companion, Vietnam Rescue 49. The two bears are almost always together, resting on raised platforms – Vietnam Rescue 48 preferring the hammock while her friend relaxes below.

When new enrichment is introduced, Vietnam Rescue 48 follows closely, learning by watching before persistently working out how things function. Although she is heavier than her companion, she has become a confident climber and regularly practises climbing trees and structures in her enclosure.

By adopting Vietnam Rescue 48, you'll be supporting her daily care – a healthy diet, health checks, enrichment activities and a lovely habitat with climbing platforms, caves, swimming pools and hammocks. You'll get to name her, and we will send you a sponsorship certificate and updates about your bear every March and September. We would also love you to come and visit!

To adopt and name Vietnam Rescue 48 we ask that you cover the annual cost of basic care, which amounts to $250 AUD per month, or AU$3,000 per year (GBP£1,650 / US$2,000 / EU€1,900).

We're looking for adoptive parents who see this as a long-term commitment and wish to continue to support their fur-child on an annual basis. You can choose to make monthly, bi-annual or annual installments.
