A passionate Conservationist Kate holds two Bachelor of Science degrees and began her career volunteering at numerous zoos, aquariums and wildlife rescue centres. Her journey with Free the Bears began 25 years ago when she volunteered at our Cambodian sanctuary. It was there that she hand reared Bebe an adorable male Sun Bear cub. This special bond and treasured experience sparked a lifelong commitment to Free the Bears.

Currently a proud full-time mum of three, Kate spent her professional career dedicated to wildlife conservation and habitat protection with 12 years of experience in scientific research, marine education and communication, marine park management and zoo husbandry. Working for the Australian Institute of Marine Science, the Department of Parks and Wildlife and Perth Zoo.

As Vice Chairperson Kate combines her experience in-country, deep historical perspective, diverse technical expertise in conservation and enduring love for wildlife to support the organisations mission.
