Sun Bear Rescue, Laos - September 2024

We've just learnt of a sun bear cub with terrible injuries located in the far south of Laos. The cub has a snare wound covered in flies, causing a swollen paw and leg. The cub is unable to put any weight on the leg, indicating a possible infection and/or broken leg.

Please help us rescue this cub, your donation will directly support this urgent rescue. Thank you.

UPDATE: We were able to rescue the sun bear and, unexpectedly, our government partners confiscated another moon bear cub while we were on the road, which we were able to collect as we returned to the sanctuary with the sun bear. We never could have expected we'd arrive back to our sanctuary with both a sun bear & moon bear cub, both incredibly traumatised. The sun bear cub required amputation of her leg. Both cubs are improving day by day and we expect them to fully recover and be able to live a healthy, enriched life free from pain, fear and suffering. These are our 31st and 32nd bears rescued in 2024, the most bears we've rescued in a year, placing immense strain on our small nonprofit charity & we need your help! Please join our family of Bear Carers & you'll be helping rescue & care for vulnerable sun bears & moon bears. It's just a small monthly donation (less than the cost of a coffee each week) to become a Bear Buddy. Your donations really do make a difference  for a small charity like Free the Bears, & genuinely help bears in need. Thank you & bear hugs!
